The Story Behind Fierce & Sweet

I don't tell this story often, but I think it explains everything about why I do this work.

Where I Started

I was just a grandma looking for a cute shirt for my granddaughter, browsing racks of kids' apparel without thinking too hard about what was actually being sold to her. Another little girl in my family, a couple of years older, loved reptiles. And princess dresses. Her mother could never find something for her.

The Turning Point

Then I read a study showing that in kids' films, predators are overwhelmingly male and prey overwhelmingly female.  A pattern that quietly teaches girls to see themselves as something to be hunted, not something powerful. I couldn't unsee it, and I knew my granddaughter deserved better. The reptile princess deserved more too.

Where I Am Now

Now I design shirts, onesies, and hoodies through Fierce & Sweet for parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles who see kids as whole people, capable of being fierce and sweet at once, never boxed into just one.
