What I'm Working on Right Now
Share
A quick, honest update on what's actually happening in my office right now.
Currently
I'm deep in a new run of designs for Fierce & Sweet, sketching out shirts and onesies that let kids be bold and gentle at the same time. Most of my days are spent drafting and refining artwork until it feels like it belongs on a toddler running through a backyard, not a corporate mood board — rejecting anything that slips back into looking "too fierce" or "too sweet" on its own.
Learning
I'm still learning how to talk about the gender research that started this whole thing without it sounding like a lecture. This week that's meant sitting with the news of Gloria Steinem's death, and what her work — and Free to Be... You and Me before it — actually has to do with a kids' t-shirt brand. I wrote more on that here: What Gloria Steinem Understood About Boys. Mostly I'm working on saying all of it simply, the way I'd say it to my granddaughter.
Next
Next up: animals native to my home in the Southwest — coyotes, jackrabbits, whiptail lizards. All looking as fierce, capable, and unbothered as the kids who will soon wear them, and all a little closer to home than a lion or a shark.
